Apple announced today that it is discontinuing the iPod.
Before there was iPhone there was the iPod. Now that legendary product line is about to go out of production as Apple is discontinuing the iPod Touch with its latest iteration.
“Music has always been part of our core at Apple, and bringing it to hundreds of millions of users in the way iPod did impacted more than just the music industry. It also redefined how music is discovered, listened to, and shared,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.
I remember the first time I saw an iPod. It was the chuncky, slow, and noisy 1st gen iPod. I think that Apple could managed to stay with the iPod as a top tier DAP.

I was gifted an iPod when I was around 12. I wasn’t really interested in it, but remembering it now, I kinda wish that I haven’t lost it. It must be somewhere around the house. Even if I do find it, I highly doubt that it will be working though.
I remember that it had a game where you control a cannon or something to destroy spaceships. My sister loved that game, not me though.
It would be a great collectible if I found it now.
They’re worth keeping as collectibles, especially the earlier models. Then again, if Walkman is any indication, it might not end up being worth much since there are so many of them out there.
