I was recommended this game to play as a stopgap between games. Something to cleanse my pallet between sessions of Call of Duty, Forza Horizon and FIFA.
But the game captured my heart. Yes, I can see the inspiration (ok, we need a stronger term than just ‘inspiration’) from Zelda Breath of the Wild, but this game is beautiful in its own right.
The graphics are gorgeous, the combat is simple but effective, and the silly twist on Greek mythology makes the game uniquely lovable. Couple all of this with fun problem solving which doesn’t insult your intelligence, and you have a recipe for a darn good game in my opinion.
Maybe the humour falls flat at times, maybe the game ‘borrows’ a little too much from BotW, but Immortals Fenyx Rising mesmerised me more than it ever had any right to.
Has anyone else had any experience with this game - either good or bad?
Funny that you bring this up as I just started playing it on Xbox Game Pass. The Zelda ‘inspiration’ is definitely not subtle, but that’s okay since PC, Xbox, and PlayStation do not have access to Nintendo’s IP. Speaking of which, Nintendo would be smart to take Sony’s cue and start porting older games to PC. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild would look amazing on PC.
Regarding Immortals Fenyx Rising, I have enjoyed the couple of hours that I put into it so far. The attempt at comedy is pretty bad, but the setting is cool and the combat is solid enough. It’s definitely worth checking out if you have Game Pass or find it on sale for like $10.
I haven’t played it yet. And tbh i’m not really interested in the game. mainly because it’s developed by ubisoft and they’re known for messing up games. i do want to experience zelda and this game may be one of the only ways to do so on PC.
