I really enjoyed Samurai Champloo.
The anime has this disjointed feeling to it, with chronological order not being really that important, all of it happening during the Edo period of Japan, following our 3 protagonists in search of the samurai that smells like sunflowers (an impossible task, like, sunflowers don’t smell 
). Fuu, Mugen and Jin are an unlikely trio that join forces with a single purpose that motivates the three: the desire to just go away. And also the fact that wherever they go they get into enough trouble to have to constantly keep moving in order to not die.
Episodes most of the time are isolated stories, and the end of the series as a bittersweet and inevitable feeling that I won’t spoil. And the art, the animation, and of course the music create this ambiance that I haven’t really in any other anime yet. Such a compromise to style I’ve seen only in Cowboy Bebop, I believe an earlier work from the director of Samurai Champloo, Shinichiro Watanabe.
Lastly what I love is how it introduced me to the work of Nujabes, who sadly passed away in 2010, but left behind him a legacy that encompasses hip-hop to this day, his work being a precursor to the now ubiquitous Lofi Hip-hop that so many people love in the present.
