I’ve been doing a bit of reflection recently on what my top 3 Nintendo Switch games are.
I think narrowing it down to just 3 is the hardest part, because I could easily have a top 10.
There are so many games that I’ve played on the switch that are ports from the Xbox 360 generation. Games that I always dreamed of playing portably (I’m looking at you, Skyrim and Witcher 3), but for this list I’m focusing on games that I experienced first-hand on the Switch.
In no particular order:
- Super Mario Odyssey.
If you haven’t played this game yet, I’m jealous. Because my first time playing this game I was blown away. The graphics, the gameplay, the soundtrack, and the ability to become some of the all-time-great mario villains makes this a must-play. Trust me.
- Mariokart 8
I know this is a port from the Wii-U, but this game really came to life on the Switch. I got this game in 2017 when the Switch first came out, and literally wore out my joy cons playing this all over Europe when I went travelling for the summer. I learned that no matter where a person is from, Mariokart is a universal language.
- Zelda Breath of the Wild
This is the very first game I played on the Switch. I could not believe the step-up in quality from the 3DS, it was night and day different. But the game itself is just phenomenal. The ability to climb virtually anything, the paragliding across beautiful scenery, the puzzles, the combat, the quirky enemies, the exploration… really, there is so much to love about this game. You need to play this masterpiece if you haven’t already.
It was really tough to pick only 3 games (Pokémon and Smash Bros narrowly missed out), but I’d love to know your thoughts.
