What retro consoles do you still own?

I was digging through my things today to tidy up and found my very old Gameboy (the original, I think). I barely even remember playing it but I must’ve been playing Tetris mainly.

In my house, it quickly got replaced by a Gameboy Colour and then Gameboy Advanced, which is pretty well worn by now! Used to play a lot of side-scrolling games like Sonic, but my favourite from that era was probably Sims: Urbz. Btw, if you had that game on any other console, it was very different to the GB version!

The only other thing that survived is my DSi along with a good stack of games in the case. I had a bunch of other consoles actually: DS Lite, Wii, Playstation 1&2 - they all died eventually except the Playstations. Those were sold a while ago.

I used to regret selling them but to be honest, I emulate a lot of the non-handheld console games on my PC instead, and it’s generally a good experience. Do you guys prefer the original consoles or emulation for this?

Define retro lol? The oldest console or system I have is the original Game Boy, and it still works thankfully.

Is the Game Boy SP retro now?

Other older consoles are the Game Cube, and I own Super Smash Bros, and I still love playing it to this day.

When I play the Game Boy SP it is mainly to go back and play Pokemon Ruby. Usually, I go shiny hunting on it or build a Pokemon from a low level to 100 and try to give it great moves for type coverage.

I still have the Wii and play Mario Super Sluggers when I am feeling nostalgic. I recently saw someone on YouTube playing it, so I get on it and do certain challenge, or challenges he did on his channel and try to replicate them.

Not sure how I’d define retro honestly - I just immediately thought of the oldest consoles I’ve owned when I saw the category here

OG Gameboys are pretty tough. Mine survived a lot better than my GB Color which I remember the most.

I never owned anything like a Game Cube or Dreamcast, but I’ve found a few in garage sales before. I wish I’d bought them but if I see them again I definitely will. I mean, I do like emulating games, but the original experience is a lot easier to set up. I’m not super into modding or tweaking tech like that.

Funny that you mention Pokemon Ruby… I used to play a lot of Pokemon Sapphire (I liked marine animals when I was young), and I’d just make a team of pokemon I thought were cool lol. I did get a shiny Kyogre once but didn’t like it because I preferred the original blue!

I really wish my Wii was still kicking, because that’s just hard to emulate. I had over 200 hours in Okami - the drawing system was really cool. It’s alright on PC but doesn’t feel as good.

Although I am a lover of retro games, I have not owned many consoles. Even so, I have managed to get my hands on different consoles during my life that are worth mentioning:

N64
Genesis/Mega Drive
GBA
NDS lite
DSi
PSX
PS2
Xbox 360
PSP

Despite having had all of these, many of them died along the way lol and others I still have at home, like the GBA, DSi, and the N64. But, the one I would never get rid of would be my PSP 3000. A console that to this day surprises me with its performance and accompanies me wherever I go.
